Resilience is one of the five sub-categories in the Affective skills Cluster of the MYP ATL skills along with the skills of Mindfulness, Emotional Management, Self-Motivation and Perseverance. These skills (attributes, characteristics) are probably the most significant of all the ATL skills in helping children to cope with the pressures and stresses of high achievement schooling at all levels of the IB and yet these are the least taught skills possibly because most teachers don’t know how.

This workshop will focus particularly on the importance of teaching students how to deal well with failure as a significant component of developing resilience and of achieving academic success and will reveal several ways that all Affective skills can be taught.
